Scout Fair Demo
On Saturday April 22, 2006 the Seabreeze Chapter had an outdoor booth at the Sam Houston Area Council Scout Fair at Reliant Park. We baked bread and visited with Scouts and Scouters that are interested in Dutch oven cooking. We had been ask by a local troop to give some instruction to their Scouts about cooking with Dutch ovens so for the past two weeks we have done classes at their meetings with the plan to set up next to them at Scout Fair and let the Scouts get some hands on practice. We started earlier than the Scout Fair so we could take the Scouts through the process of cooking a loaf of bread before the crowd arrived for the event. Once the Scout Fair officially started the Scouts cooked dump cakes in the booth next to ours while we continued to bake more bread and visit with those passing by the booth. In two weeks we will continue working with the Scouts from the local troop doing some more Dutch oven cooking at a weekend camp-out.
Members that worked the outdoor Scout Fair booth were Bob and Alice Gidney and Neil Buso. Neil split his time between our outdoor booth and the LSDOS indoor booth.
