On Sunday March 19, 2006 the Seabreeze Chapter held our monthly DOG. The theme this month was Irish, make it green. We lived up to our name by having a brisk southeast wind most of the afternoon. That wind kept us cool and made it a challenge to keep the ovens hot. When it came time to eat the wind laid and we had a very enjoyable meal. We had five families cooking in 13 ovens for a total of 28 people present at meal time. We enjoyed Guinness beef, pork roast with potatoes and carrots, green bean casserole, green mashed potato meatballs, shepherd's pie, dilled cabbage potatoes, Dublin coddle, and Irish soda bread with hand churned green butter. If that weren't enough we also had green apple cake, green peach cobbler, green velvet cake, and green punch. Wow, it was all soo good. You could cut that pork roast with a plastic fork. Just the sight of all those steaming Dutch ovens made you want to grab, root, and growl in the buffet line. I think I may have grabbed too much, rooted too long, and now I'm growlin' because I may have hurt myself. Not the grab, root, and growl I had in mind when I started down that food line. If you were there you know what I talkin' about. If you weren't there, you missed a good one!!!!
We decided to change our next DOG to Saturday, April 15th because of Easter being Sunday. The theme is Tex-Mex. I was reminded by one of the members, that is heavy on the Tex and light on the Mex. Clear your calendar for that Saturday and get out there with us. Remember it is time to pay your dues. Contact the chapter Adviser for the address to mail your dues. Also don't forget that we need to recruit some folks to come cook with us. Be thinking who that is and give them an invitation for next month with or without their Dutch oven. Let's get them there and get them interested. We just have too much fun to not share it with others.
